We can call across the world while hiking in the woods, view a photo moments after it’s snapped, communicate remotely with co-workers cities away. But for all the convenience and efficiency consumer electronics products bring to our lives, the technological revolution has become a nightmare for the disposal industry. With faster and more efficient high-tech products coming to market on a regular basis, some cell phones and laptops, outdated within a year or two, may be considered obsolete soon after purchase. Buying a new printer or iPod is often cheaper than fixing an aging model. The problem with this onslaught of newer, faster, sleeker and cooler gadgets is figuring out how to dispose of the old stuff.
